Manifesto

Design is not the finished product, for you are never really finished designing anything. It can always be pushed further. It is the details from trial and error that are pushed further by community input. Trial and error is the key in designing anything, whether it is a space or a product. Throughout trial and error there must be community learning and sharing. Design is not from just one person, but from a community of people. I believe in sharing your ideas with others for they can help you see what you are missing, give you inspiration and other directions to pursue. Inspiration can come from other designers, family, friends and even a fruit bowl.

There must be a purpose for everything, a reason why you choose that shape, fabric, or hardware. The details must come together with a purpose or else it is just decorating. Everything must be designed with consideration to the environment and sustainability. Design should not be harmful to the user in any way and should have a long life. After its death, the product or building should be able to be reused. Another detail that should always be more than a consideration is universal design. A space or product is not properly designed if someone can not use it. Design is a combination of details that are shared and pushed to their limits.
